Personal advising

We thought that it would be a good idea to interview experienced people who knows about growing vegetable gardens in order to go further in taking care of ours correctly and make some improvements.

First of all, we interviewed our first level classmates because they are responsable for planting and watering the plants at noon with the supervisor’s help.

After that, we invited Mr Luis Gueiburt to come to our school. He is the President of the Urban Vegetable Garden of Les Corts and he’s got a wide experience in growing plants. Not only he gave us good advice but he also solved all our doubts. We showed him our vegetable garden and we also told him about our project. He was very happy to hear about all of that and we would love to see him again in the future.

Recently, Rubén Saguart visited us. He's a technologist in the Digital Manufacturing Athenaeum in Les Corts. We talked to him about our ideas and we showed him our vegetable garden. He also told us new ideas in order to expand and improve our project. He recommended us to create a Twitter account and a hashtag so more people will be able to know about our school project. You can find us as @LhortDeLesCorts. The hashtag that we use to promote out vegetable garden is #hortescolalescorts

We also talked about social inclusion of visually impaired students. He suggested to create a key next to a mockup, so these students would be able to place each flowerpot in school. We shared with him our website. If other schools in the city or organisation are interested about growing a vegetable garden, they will be able to check out our project and contact us if they need personal advice.

The last person who has visited us is Lluís Pagespetit Blancafort. He works in La Casa de l'Aigua, in Barcelona. He talked to us about The Reg Comtal and the first scoring on the ground in our city. He also suggested some interesting ideas:

1) Giving guided tours for people interested in our vegetable garden.

2) Developing a new education area that we have just created in our school.

3) Increasing biodiversity in our vegetable garden now that we just want to create a vertical garden. We would like to plant seasonal flowers, so insects will feel attracted by their colours and their smell, and they won't be around the flowerpots.

4) Growing native plants in our vegetable garden and preventing the introduction and spread of invased species. Our students must recognise our native plants and their fruits. Consuming "Slow food Km0" contributes to reduce the use of pesticides or preservatives. These products have to be consumed in a short period of time, which also helps to reduce hamful emissions to our air.

Food without preservativies = implies food must be eaten in a short perior of time

= sale in local areas = shorter route = less pollution

5) Linking the objectives of our project with the United Nations' sustainable development goals. These goals must be reached by all the countries that participate by 2030.

The next day, we visited The Born Museum in Barcelona. We had the opportunity to know how water was used in our city 300 years ago and we saw the archaeological ruins of The Reg Comtal.

Don't miss the video and the photos about these experiences. We hope you like them!
